It is with immense sadness that the board of the European Confederation of Outdoor Employers (EC-OE) has to announce that our good friend, colleague and board member Michalis Tsoukias has lost the battle with the coronavirus.  After two weeks off ‘intensive care’ in the Sotiria Hospital in Athens, Michalis passed away on 24th of March 2020.

We have known Michalis as a mountain guide and trek leader, an entrepreneur, president of the Greek Outdoor Employers Federation HATEOA, a partner and a key expert in several EU projects and above all as a friend and a family man for his wife Ionna and their children.

Michalis was highly respected by the whole Outdoor community and beyond for his passion, his kindness and inspiring ideas.

We wish his wife, children and family all the strength that will be needed in such circumstances and can only assure them of our full moral support and our love and care.

Our current thoughts are also for his friends, relatives and business staff members and partners.

Michalis has now started his last ever trek up there and we wish him a peaceful journey beyond all the tracks he has ever followed and all the mountains he has ever climbed.
He will remain in the minds of all of us as he was a leader in the true spirit of the Outdoors.

On behalf of the European Outdoor community,

Goodbye Michalis.
